James S. Shaw

James S. Shaw is a Partner/Principal of Sterling Capital Management. In 1996, Mr. Shaw formed Sterling Capital Management and has worked as an equity trader and hedge fund manager since that time. He has also been involved in venture capital for numerous small companies. He actively travels back and forth to Europe and Asia in search of equity investment opportunities.

James received his BBA in Accounting from the University of Oklahoma (summa cum Laude) and worked as a CPA for several years with the now-defunct accounting firm Arthur Andersen & Co. Additionally, Mr. Shaw received his Master of Management from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management. Mr. Shaw worked four years in the Duff & Phelps Structured Finance Group and several years as a commercial lender to the middle market sector. Since forming Sterling Capital Management, Mr. Shaw has been involved in numerous successful ventures including currency trading, venture capital and real estate development.

Tyson (Ty) A. Rhame

Tyson A. Rhame is Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of Sterling Currency Group, LLC. Started in June 2004, Ty was directly responsible for conceptualizing, structuring, managing, and operating a fledgling company focused primarily in the acquisition and sale of Middle Eastern currencies in the United States and around the world. Since it’s inception, Sterling Currency Group has generated over 13 million USD in sales along with tremendous profits. Ty has extensive experience conducting business throughout the Middle East and Europe on many levels and with many different nationalities and entities.

Major Tyson Rhame was commissioned by the United States Air Force following graduation from the United States Air Force Academy in 1988. After successfully completing Air Force Undergraduate Pilot Training in 1989, Major Rhame served in the Active Duty Air Force as an instructor pilot and combat pilot until 1997. In 1997 until present, Major Rhame has served in the Air Force Reserves as a Commander and Command Pilot conducting numerous combat operations around the world (most recently serving 1 year in the Middle East supporting Operation IRAQI FREEDOM). Major Rhame has enjoyed a long and distinguished career as highly decorated combat pilot/officer and possesses tremendous experience managing people in high-risk situations.
